I began working professionally with youth during my undergraduate work at the Evergreen State College. My academic focus was on health and human development and multi-cultural counseling. As a college student, I interned for a community mental health program offering psycho-educational support for families with young children. Later, I began working with older youth via Expedition and Experiential Based Learning and as a school-based community mental health counselor.
Working in the schools quickly won over my heart and within just a few of years, I completed my graduate degree in Education at the University of Washington and later went on to become a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) - Exceptional Needs Specialist.
I spent the first ten years of my teaching career as a high school Special Education teacher, which I loved dearly. I began working for the Issaquah School District when my family relocated to Sammamish. I was a special education teacher for students with emotional/behavior disorders; in my fourth year, I took on the role of PBSES Coach and part-time Special Ed teacher. I deeply value the important PBSES work happening in our district; I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Sunny Hills PBSES Coach and love working with our phenomenal staff and your wonderful children!
